William Flanigan
About: Directors & Staff - William Flanigan

William D. Flanigan (M-TX) is currently a semi-retired consulting Geologist/Engineering Geologist, and Principal for WDF Geosciences in Roanoke, Texas. Bill has been a Member of AEG for over 35 years.

Bill began his career in 1979 as an Engineering Geologist with Mason-Johnston & Associates, performing site investigations on over 25 flood retarding structures in Oklahoma, a large number of deep basement excavations in the Dallas Ft. Worth area, numerous Dallas Area Rapid Transit Projects, and many large infrastructure projects including the Superconducting Super Collider Project. Since the mid 90's he has served for over 19 years in the Industrial Minerals Sector, leading a team of Geoscientists to support over 30 mining operations, in permitting, acquisitions, a broad range of quarry related challenges, mineral evaluations, and water resource management projects.

Mr. Flanigan's AEG experience began in 1979 where he was mentored by Pete Henley and Floyd T. Johnston. Bill has been actively involved in the Texas Section, having served as field trip leader on dozens of Texas Section Meetings; co-author the Geology of Dallas, Texas (published by AEG in 1987); serving as Texas Section Chair in the early 90s; and DFW Chapter coordinator for 6 + years in the early 2000's. He received the Douglas R. Piteau Outstanding Young Member in 1991, and the Texas Section Floyd T. Johnston Memorial Award in 1996.
