About AEG Foundation Scholarships & Grants
The AEG Foundation provides over 25 grants and scholarships each year to students and professionals, ranging from $500 to $5,000 each. We encourage and seek out applicants who bring diverse racial backgrounds, a variety of life experiences, and focus on a range of topics within environmental and engineering geology, from colleges and universities across the United States. Please see below for details on how to apply.

Steckel Diversity Field Trips Grant (For junior-high school and high school Earth Science or STEM teachers who teach primarily Black, Hispanic or Latino/a, Pacific Islander, and/or American Indian/Alaskan Native students)
John Moylan Student Chapter Grant (Supports AEG Student Chapters for field trips, visiting professionals, and other program needs through small grants)
K-14 Education Fund Grant (Supporting geological education in earth science for elementary, middle, and high schools; and technical and community colleges)
AEG Foundation Scholarships
General Requirements for Scholarships:
- AEG Foundation scholarship applications are accepted online or via email. Online submissions are preferred.
- Applications with all supporting materials, including transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc. must be received by 11:59 PM EST on January 15th of each year. Note, for online submissions, requests for letters of recommendation will not be sent until the applicant has submitted his/her application.
- A free membership through AEG is required. Even if you are already an AEG member, you must set up an account for this application separate from your AEG log-in.
- AEG Foundation scholarship and grant applicants must be US residents, from US educational institutions to qualify.

Carolinas Scholarship

Robert J. Watters Great Basin Chapter Scholarship

Steckel Diversity Scholarship

Qualifications:
- Have a personal heritage of Black, Hispanic or Latino/a, Pacific Islander, and/or American Indian/Alaska Native
- Have a declared major studies in the Geosciences, such as Geology, Geophysics, Earth and Planetary Sciences, and related geoscience subjects
- Undergraduate student in the Sophomore, Junior, or Senior years
- Have a GPA of at least 2.9, confirmed by a school transcript directly from the school
- Have a potential for contributions to the Geosciences profession
- Exhibit leadership abilities and/or experience

Beardsley-Kuper Geology Field Camp Scholarship

Qualifications:
- AEG Student Member
- Undergraduate or post baccalaureate student who has not won this award previously.
- Attending field camp at an accredited academic institution with an emphasis on environmental and engineering geology.
- May be used by recipients to support the direct costs of the field camp tuition as well as meals and lodging.
- Applicants must have completed a minimum level of coursework necessary for a basic foundation in geology prior to attending field camp, clearly shown on submitted transcripts. Such coursework may include: mineralogy, petrology, structural geology, geomorphology, stratigraphy.

Tilford Field Studies Scholarship

Marliave Scholarship

Qualifications:
- AEG Student Member
- Senior or graduate student presently enrolled full-time in a college or university degree program in engineering geology or geological engineering.
- Nomination or sponsorship letter from a faculty member, an employer or geoscience professional with knowledge of the applicant's qualifications. The sponsor/nominator should be a member of AEG and it is encouraged to have this individual be a Student Chapter Advisor or AEG Section Officer.
- Two letters of reference (in addition to the Nomination/Sponsorship Letter listed above) must be submitted online by persons in the profession who can evaluate the applicant's qualifications to become a Marliave Scholar.
- Description of current and anticipated future involvement in the Association of Environmental & Engineering Geologists.
- The goals statement must be original and must not be edited by a professor or others in the profession.

Shlemon Quaternary Engineering Geology Scholarship

Lemke Scholarship

AEG Foundation Grants
General Requirements:
- AEG Foundation grant applications are accepted online and via email. Online applications are preferred.
- Applications with all supporting materials are accepted year round.

Steckel Diversity Field Trips Grant
Grant Charter Application (PDF)
Qualifications:
- At least 66% (two-thirds) of the students who will participate on this field trip should be of Black, Hispanic or Latino/a, Pacific Islander, and/or American Indian/Alaskan Native personal heritage
- An interesting and appropriate itinerary of at least three different types of outdoor stops
- The introduction of geoscience as a possible career, and how to best prepare for it while still in junior-high school and high school, shall be included in the field-trip itinerary
- Enlistment of geoscience students and professionals from your area who may agree to help with the itinerary or additional expenses, and provide real-time, on-site participation with your field-trip group
- An optimum number of student participants should be between 16 and 24
- There shall be a prudent number of adult chaperones - at least one adult chaperone for every five students
- The use of maps (topographic, geologic, bathymetric, highway, land-use, hydrologic, etc.) before, during, and after the field trip
- Each student field-trip participant must provide a written and signed parental/guardian permission or authorization that meets or exceeds the state, district, and school requirements
- These grants are available to public, private, and charter school students. They are not available to home-school students or home-school groups
- It is preferred that this AEG Foundation Diversity Field-Trip be scheduled for out-of-school hours, such as a Saturday, a school holiday, or a vacation day

- Successful proposals may request funding for transportation; lunches and snacks; admission fees to state or national parks, mineral- or fossil-collecting sites, mine tours, or other geoscience-related sites; liability insurance for the teacher(s), the school and district, volunteer chaperones, and AEG Foundation; and other necessary expenses
- Successful proposals should request not more than about $1,000 each
- A summary of each field trip that is funded through this AEG program shall be prepared for the AEG Foundation and AEG

John Moylan Student Chapter Grant
